gnome-screensaver "Recommends" libpam-gnome-keyring; this means that libpam-gnome-keyring is expected to be present, except in unusual configurations. You're welcome to not install it if you so prefer, but then you have to edit /etc/pam.d/gnome-screensaver and disable gnome-keyring support. Would we make this a Depends, we would force everybody to install libpam-gnome-keyring, which some people don't want either. -- Loïc Minier
