Tested in several terminals now, and it always worked well for me. In [1]: import os In [2]: os? Type: module Base Class: <type 'module'> String Form: <module 'os' from '/usr/lib/python2.4/os.pyc'> Namespace: Interactive File: /usr/lib/python2.4/os.py Docstring: OS routines for Mac, DOS, NT, or Posix depending on what system we're on. [....] Sounds more like a broken terminal (-setting...). Please give me the exact steps to reproduce this, starting with a normal Debian installation.
