I believe the fix for this bug might be similar to the one implemented by snort (see the debian/rules of snort 2.7.0-9). Basicly:
- create a build-indep target, make build: depend on that and on a build-arch - add a Build-Depends-Indep: definition in the header and move the TeX-related software there, so that autobuilders will not install it - have the build-indep target compile the documents available *only* if the TeX software is present. I can assist in providing a patch for this and uploading a new version fixing this and other bugs currently in the BTS. Jose, can you work on the debian/rules or do you need help?
