Package: gkrellmd
Version: 2.3.1-1
Severity: normal
I have the same problem (removing gkrellmd with apt-get or dpkg fail),
but on my side, the reason of the failure was that the pid file
(/var/run/gkrellmd.pid) was missing (not created by
"/etc/init.d/gkrellmd start").
Manually adding this file (with the correct pid, of course) allowed me
to correctly remove the package.
