I just tried this and I can't reproduce it in alpine 1.0. If you upgrade
to the latest package in sid, do you still get the bug?
I tried it by downloading your message and then piping it to cat; what I
saw was word-wrapped.

On a normal ascii line, the only safe condition to detect is a 'BREAK'
