Thanks for reporting! I'll look into this tomorrow.
I can write down a quick note for now: acpi-support is *not* supposed to
do anything to laptop-mode anymore, and if it does, that's a bug.
Removing the laptop-mode handling from acpi-support was done as a patch
on top of the upstream's (Ubuntu's, that is) acpi-support, and it may
very well be that they added a reference to laptop-mode somewhere that I
failed to patch away again...
BTW, could you attach a tarball with the contents of your /etc/acpi, for
reference? That way I can check that it's not some weird upgrade
problem. :-)
