Package: squirrelmail-decode Version: 1.1-2 Severity: important Hi,
Some of the decoders in squirrelmail-decode cause infinite loops when presented with certain inputs. decode/cp949.php is one of these which appears to be being called on certain messages coming from gmail. A workaround is to remove the squirrelmail-decode package but this has obvious side-effects. The symptom of this is that opening a folder with a message with a From: line formatted this way will cause the session to hang and timeout, and the server will start continuously allocating RAM until apache is killed by monit or the OOM killer kicks in. (for some reason the php memory limit in php.ini is exceeded by this bug). I can't post an example email address publically but can send it to the maintainer by private mail; Jeroen, where would you like me to send it? I've also tested the version in testing/unstable and this has the same problem.
