Second problem is that I would like to check that the version I have
prepared actually builds on kfreebsd before uploading it as 1.4.9-2. Is
that possible?

Well, I tried to build it before I submitted the patch.
As current conky (1.4.9-1) is in testing, there is no harm in uploading
1.4.9-2 in unstable. You can also upload it into experimental.
The buildd logs in both cases will show on http://buildd.debian-ports.org/build.php?arch=&pkg=conky

See also http://io.debian.net/ssh.html and http://asdfasdf.debian.net/ssh.html.

The conky case is a little bit special, as it needs
libdevstat-dev, which is not yet available.
I already prepared it, see r2084 in
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/glibc-bsd/trunk/?op=log
The only two packages needing it up to now are libgtop2 and conky.
The upload is scheduled after upcoming FreeBSD 6.3 release.

Thanks
                Petr
