Hi,

I completely agree here with Sune and Mark.

rng targets the less experienced users. So it should guide them as good
as possible. Teaching them about severity levels is one facet of that.
Automatic severity downgrading, as e.g. reportbug does, is one possibility.
Another idea I had was, that it would really be helpful if rng could do
some duplicate filtering. I.e. it should parse the subject and check
existing bug reports for matches [1]. If a match is found, it should
query to check the already reported bug reports first.
Especially for larger projects this could prove to be very helpful for
the package maintainers.

[1] Large projects tend to have a lot of bug reports, so people often
don't check all of them.
