Hi, I completely agree here with Sune and Mark. rng targets the less experienced users. So it should guide them as good as possible. Teaching them about severity levels is one facet of that. Automatic severity downgrading, as e.g. reportbug does, is one possibility. Another idea I had was, that it would really be helpful if rng could do some duplicate filtering. I.e. it should parse the subject and check existing bug reports for matches [1]. If a match is found, it should query to check the already reported bug reports first. Especially for larger projects this could prove to be very helpful for the package maintainers. Cheers, Michael [1] Large projects tend to have a lot of bug reports, so people often don't check all of them. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 2.6.23.12 Debian Release: lenny/sid 500 unstable www.debian-multimedia.org 500 unstable ftp.de.debian.org 300 experimental ftp.de.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed =============================-+-=========== python | 2.4.4-6 python-central (>= 0.5.8) | 0.5.15 python-qt3 | 3.17.4-1 python-soappy | 0.12.0-2 xdg-utils | 1.0.1-2 -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
