Hi Michelle.
This bug occurs only when Synaptic is launched from gnome-panel using
'gksu' or 'su-to-root'. It does not occur when launched from XTerm.
Is there any reason why ${TERM} would not be set when Synaptic is
launched from gnome-panel?
Since Synaptic creates its own terminal window when installing, could it
not set ${TERM} itself? After all, it knows what type of terminal
window it is creating.
Since I can reproduce the problem, is there any way I can diagnose this
problem further for you and give you more feedback?
Thanks, Chris.
