Package: doc-rfc
Version: 20030621-1
Followup-For: Bug #287224

Hello,

I'd noticed that RFCs 3796 and 4002 are not in any packages that I could
find of my own Debian archive.

I thought that I'd just add this note, myself -- that there is another
Debian user, whom would appreciate it if the doc-rfc package could be
updated upon the current RFCs database.

Some motivational quux : "As developers", we may have a harder time, at
developing software, and "as users", we may have a hard time using software,
if we would not not be going on the most current information. Granted,
there is rfc-editor.org, as an authority about the most current RFCs; still,
someone might start working on one of the doc-rfc files, and not even
realize "the RFC used for the thing has been obsoleted by RFC # foo".

Incidentally, SunSITE Denmark has HTML copies of the RFCs, already
generated, with nice cross-reference links across the RFC database. I'd been
using their DB, when I noticed that there were RFCs that they have copy of,
and which the doc-rfc package does not appear to provide.

I could wonder if it might be possible, with SunSITE Denmark's permission,
to include their nice HTML RFCs, with appropriate reference, right in with
the doc-rfc packages.

For example, there's http://rfc.sunsite.dk/rfc/rfc4002.html

The main page for the SunSITE Denmark RFC HyperText archive is:
 http://rfc.sunsite.dk/main.html
or, with frames:
 http://rfc.sunsite.dk/

I would hope, if they were contacted, they may not have any qualms about
their HTML RFCs being included with the doc-rfc packages in Debian, with
appropriate credit being clearly given, for their nice RFC-text-to-HTML
processing and such.

Anyhow, it's nice to have what copies of RFCs there are; much appreciated,
sincerely, your effort in maintaining the doc-rfc package.
