linux journal states
- nfs with unionfs was broken in 1.0.9 on 2.6 kernels and
- is fixed with 1.0.11.

Unionfs reports 1.4 onmy machine. Maybe the same problem was re-invented or 
re-introduced.

By the way, currently my /etc/exports contains
/data           192.168.1.1/24(fsid=42,ro,sync,subtree_check)

and still the mount fails.
