No, I will not as I do not share that characterisation. Spreadsheet
applications need to strike a balance between having a limited amount of
space (compounded by the paradigm of cells defined by columns and rows) and
the need for completely accurate display of cell contents. The mechanism of
using hash marks to mark cells whose contents cannot be displayed under
current column widths and row heights is an effective one and is used in all
spreadsheet applications that I have worked with.

By all means feel free to contact upstream directly (either through
[EMAIL PROTECTED] or through bugzilla.gnome.org) and argue your case
yourself though.

Kind regards,
Ray
