The argument -xftpsz (like "mrxvt -xftpsz 16") can be used to change the size of the proportional font (specified with -xftpfn) for tab names. The option name for this is xftPSize. This is not documented in the man page (I used to change it in feature.h and recompile before I decided to guess at its option name).
