You eally should consider abandoning smbfs in favor of cifs (mount.cifs, etc.). smbfs code is loosely maintained code in the samba codebase. The breakage in 3.0.27 is here to prove this and we are considering abandoning this in Debian to just provice CIFS userland utilities. Anyway, 3.0.27a is on its way to unstable and should fix this.
