I've tried the patch, just now again for apt 0.7.9, but the testcase mentioned above still fails.
I've looked at the patch/source a few days/weeks ago and noticed that mremap failed (with ENOMEM, if I remember correctly). I've tried using the MREMAP_MAYMOVE flag (and adjusted the code around it accordingly), but that caused segfaults then - probably because of the memory pool address or some such. I'm no C programmer at all, but it appears that mremap is only useful, if the MAYMOVE flag can be used. -- http://daniel.hahler.de/
