It would be very helpful if you could try playing your file again with a recent version of avifile-player and related programs (X, etc.). A lot has changed since you originally filed your report. However, your report is still a serious one and it would be great if the problem had been resolved. The latest version of avifile-player in debian is 1:0.7.43.20050224-1. There have been three releases since you filed the bug.
