Package: apt Version: 0.7.8 Severity: important The libapt-pkg soname currently encodes the libc minor version. Libc hasn't broken ABI compatibility since glibc 2 was introduced; changing the soname every time the glibc minor version changes results in unnecessary rebuilds of reverse dependencies.
