Package: hal
Version: 0.5.10-2
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

since the last upstream upgrade:
=====
hal (0.5.10-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Michael Biebl ]
  * New upstream release.
[...]

  * debian/control
[...]
    - Add a Depends: pm-utils. Beginning with this release we will only
      support pm-utils as suspend infrastructure.
=====

While this can be a very marginal request, it seems that pm-utils is
not strictly necessary (I used that hal version without it since 3
days now, suspending and hibernating my ThinkPad X60 without any
problem). Moreover, the scripts in /usr/lib/hal/scripts/linux/ check
if the binaries provided by pm-utils are present (to be precise,
present and executable) before calling them.

Thus this seems to me a good candidate for a Recommends:, especially
because since 01/10/2007 apt installs recommended packages by default
(and someone that doesn't use apt's default behavior should use
apt-listbugs IMHO or, at least, consult the package details when
looking for information about the package).

The rationale is that you may already have another pm tool on your
system and don't want to change.

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
