Hi,
There shouldn't be any need to use the "set encoding" command: gnuplot
should just use the current locale's charset, as returned by
nl_langinfo(CODESET) after a call to setlocale(LC_ALL,""). Also, iconv
should be used for performing charset conversions, as it supports far
more charsets.

quit When the quit statement is read, the bc processor
is terminated, regardless of where the quit state-
ment is found. For example, "if (0 == 1) quit"
will cause bc to terminate.
(Seen in the manpage for "bc". Note the "if" statement's logic)
