I have the feeling you somewhat misread my report. While I agree that
kernel-package should not try to track kernel building requirements, my
request was for a conviniency to the user: if it is possible (notice the if,
I don't really know if this is feasible) to detect the gcc version used to
build the kernel, make linux-headers-version depend on it. This is useful
because as new versions of the compiler are available, one usually uninstalls
the older ones, but when trying to rebuild a module, the needed compiler
version is not available.
