Package: alsaplayer-common
Severity: normal

Hi,

just try out to install the following combination of alsaplayer components:
apt-get install alsaplayer-text alsaplayer-alsa
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  alsaplayer-common alsaplayer-oss
Recommended packages:
  alsaplayer
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  alsaplayer-alsa alsaplayer-common alsaplayer-oss alsaplayer-text
0 upgraded, 4 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Hmm, strange: I selected alsaplayer-alsa. Why is alsaplayer-oss going to be
installed?

Maybe I should try another combination:
apt-get install alsaplayer-alsa alsaplayer-text
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  alsaplayer-common alsaplayer-gtk
Recommended packages:
  alsaplayer
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  alsaplayer-alsa alsaplayer-common alsaplayer-gtk alsaplayer-text
0 upgraded, 4 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Ui, now alsaplayer-oss is not selected anymore but alsaplayer-gtk is. Sadly, on
an
installation without X, this will select packages for X and GTK!

It is simply impossible to install _only_ the above combination. I am not sure
if this
is a dependency problem or a problem with apt-get.

The only work-around I found was to use aptitude, select alsaplayer-text and
alsa-player-alsa
(order matters) and deselect alsaplayer-oss.

BTW: why is alsaplayer-oss the default for a software named after _ALSA_?
