severity 218529 normal thanks The complete lack of any error message on stderr to accompany the nonzero exit status is not just a missing feature, it is a bug.
The fact that I described the behaviour as silly (which it is) doesn't mean that it doesn't need to be fixed. (Obviously.) Ardo said he'd arrange for the error message to go to stderr. I think when that is done it would be reasonable to regard the remaining complaint (that the error message isn't very useful, and suggests running the program again) as a wishlist item.
