Could not reproduce the mentioned segfaults with xine-ui 0.99.5 and xine-lib >= 1.0.0.

xine-ui is not and will not be designed to run without an X11 window.
Either the video window or the panel window will always be shown. Option
-I doesn't mean to hide all windows, but to disable gui-controls, it
implies -g and can be combined with -g and -H.
