I think the current solution is the most safe. If we write that amount
of code and do not get testing I wouldn't feel confortable to put it
on stable. This code isn't necessary at lenny since d-i do not use
devfs anymore.
I cited the other possible solution just to demonstrate that current
available patch is the safest way to go.
