My preferred outcome of this bug will be a whishlist bug submitted _upstream_ (i.e. not in the debian BTS). Bram is very responsive and I think he can answer you on whether he intend to implement support for high unicode character displaying or not. If you insist in having it on the debian BTS it's fine for me, but at minimum we should reopen it, change it severity to whishlist and forward it to Bram. Still, in order to keep a manageable BTS page for vim, I would rather prefer not to keep there such border case report.
