Tested here with i386 (can't reproduce). Please try reinstall:
apt-get --reinstall install ace-of-penguins
/usr/games/ace_taipei
If still gives error, attach trace while hitting F1:
apt-get install strace
rm -f /tmp/strace.log
strace -o /tmp/strace.log /usr/games/ace_taipei
