I do not intend to "fix" this as exim4 does not mess with /var/mail at all (see the maintainer scripts). As we might be overriding a local admin's decision for non-standard rights on /var/mail, this would be a policy violation, and I don't feel strongly enough to burden myself with the necessary statoverride foo. In other words: It is not exim's job to globally fix what you have locally broken. Tagging the bug appropriately.
