It turned out that the situation is a bit more complex:
On amd64 architecture:
/sbin/bastille-firewall-reset
contains the line INITBASEDIR=/etc/init.d (correct)
has the md5sum 2d21398465cd7d19339595c7e5d3e971
/var/lib/dpkg/info/bastille.md5sums contains the corresponding value 
      b8280801f22ab957eea46a3766099717 (wrong)

On i386:
/sbin/bastille-firewall-reset
contains the line INITBASEDIR=/etc/rc.d/init.d (wrong)
has the md5sum b8280801f22ab957eea46a3766099717
/var/lib/dpkg/info/bastille.md5sums contains the corresponding value 
      b8280801f22ab957eea46a3766099717 (correct for the buggy file)
