Not easy. It'd be good to at least test with Xorg 7.1 in Etch. What system are you running currently? Is there a chance you upgrade to Etch? If you can't test with recent Xorg packages, since the bug is probably fixed nowadays, I'd rather close the bug for now and let you reopen it if you reproduce it one day with a recent Debian installation.
