Since the earlier report, I have burned another DVD image file. While that
worked and also seemed to shut down OK when I closed K3B, there was still a
problem. I just fired up K3B again but it wouldn't start. It appears that
it was still running, but without a GUI. I had to kill the existing K3B
process before I could get K3B to bring up the GUI.

When I tried to burn a CD image however, it again failed on the verify
step.

BTW: I also experienced the K3B shuts off DMA problem when I tried to burn
the DVD image. The DMA was off, which probably was from the earlier DVD
image burn I reported (immediately below). However, hdparm reports that DMA
is still on while I was waiting for the CD verify and stayed on after I
killed it.

--------------------------------

And more: I tried to burn a video DVD project last night. This morning
it was still stuck on starting the verify at 50% complete. While I could
close the progress dialog this time, I still couldn't close the program
and once again had to kill it.

---------------------------------

Further to below: I've burned 5 DVD ISO images and 4 verified properly.
The fifth one hung on the verify step. It never budged past 50% even
after waiting an hour.

So yes, there is an intermittent problem still with the verify. It's not
as bad as it was with the earlier version, but it still exists. And when
the problem crops up, I have to kill K3B - it won't close and neither
will the progress dialog (it takes the click when I press cancel, but
never closes).

-----------------------------------

Yes.

I'm not actually sure about it as this point. I've noticed that it does
take a long time from the point it reports that burning is complete
until it actually starts doing the checking. I'm talking several minutes
here. It's possible I was just a little hasty, or it could be that there
is a problem with switching from writing to reading. Either way, I don't
think it should be sitting for several minutes. And the problem with
cancelling is real.
