well the title says all,
ip-up uses "run-parts --arg" , this option is not recognized in early run-parts of debianutils .
an upgrade to debianutils 2.13.2 solved the prblem.
before that, ip-up failed silently, without any error message to syslog, just 'ip-up started" immediatly followed by "ip-up finished". It was a bit tricky for me to go find out.
sorry I can't provide the previous version of debianutils. but:
debianutils had a bug #61736 for the lack of "--arg" support. it was closed by debianutils 1.15.
so I think recents ppp should depend on debianutils >= 1.15 . oh my. mine was soooo old ... :)
All in all , quite a useless bug report... no one will have such an old debianutils ...
