I've the same problem too since about two weeks on two different debian systems. Both systems have more then one month uptimes. One runs with 2.6.11 and the other one runs 2.4.27, so it's not kernel related. The only relevant update in the last to weeks is lsof. And lsof has a similar bug report open #297029. Could that be related ? I'm using the current version 4.74 of lsof. server root # lsof | grep DEL | wc -l 179 gate root # lsof | grep DEL | wc -l 34 checkrestart shows nothing.
