Plesae donn't configure your card with alsaconf! Do as follows: # dpkg --purge --force-all alsa-utils alsa-oss alsa-base libasound2 linux-sound-base # apt-get install alsa-utils alsa-base libasound2 Enjoy sound without configuring the card with alsaconf. udev does the trick for you.
