Dear David, I see that you are almost orphaning magicfilter. I use magicfilter 1.2-60 every single day for my own printing since I have a very old Epson Stylus Color II and an HP Deskjet 840C.
My experiences with magicfilter together with lprng have been superb, to say the least (and with the pcl3 driver of gs-esp, printing to the HP is quite automatic). Since I am in the process of application to the New Maintainer's, I think that it would be a good exercise, especially since I *use* the package. I saw that every request for adoption of the package is over 3 years old which means that probably it they don't have gone much further. I already saw the package of magicfilter 2.0 prepared, and I will evaluate it (if the person that packaged it still is interested in magicfilter).
