Thanks for raising this issue, I hadn't noticed.

I don't have access to that machine now, but I thought it was using
Xorg. Strange.

However, I note the messages are different. Now I am confused how I
upgraded to etch without upgrading this.

Also, according to my bug report, xserver-xorg is installed.

According to apt-cache, xserver-xorg conflicts with old versions of
xserver-xfree86 and current versions of xserver-xfree86 are a
transitional package only.

This computer is fully up to date with etch.

The only thing I can think of is that I got confused and quoted an old
log file, but I think I double checked this. Will triple check.

Next time I get physical access to the machine (probably tomorrow) I
will try to work out why it is still using XFree86 - I suspect I am
more likely to get this to work with Xorg.
