Some more info that may help. As I mentioned in my initial contribution to this issue, from some point onwards I saw no more errors and it now look very much as if the remaining part of the checkout (~ revisions 12000-47000) will complete without any further errors.
It now occurs to me that the point where the errors stop occurring roughly matches the revision prior to which the SVN repository was imported from CVS and after which we started maintaining D-I in SVN. Cheers, FJP
