 Thanks for working on this; after the end of the move of 2.18 to
 testing seems like the good moment to update packages for this new
 script.

 Sounds good; did you see the proposal to have one level of indirection,
 i.e. the concept of list of directories for which to update icon
 caches?  I think it would more solid and would permit additional use
 cases, but it would require more work and bends toward
 over-engineering, but I didn't receive any feedback on it.
