I confirmed that vipw, as used in the conditions the bug submitter mentioned, should have a "quiet" mode so that it does not output anything. Moreover, it really seems more natural to output the "%s is unchanged" message to stdout and not stderr. Tomasz, what do you think about this suggestion? --
