I am preparing a vtk-5.0.3 upload that will address this need. I'd like to have a co-worker test it, and use it a bit byself, but I am working the issue and will upload in the next couple of days. My builds last Sunday discoverd a failing hard disk, but I seem to have a good sid build environment set up on a new disk, so with luck it will be ready soon.
