Hard to say whether this is fortunate or unfortunate case, but I am unable to reproduce the behaviour. Upon receiving your letter I changed "valid users" lines in my smb.conf back to use @groupname style and it works. I have upgraded system meanwhile and my current samba version is 3.0.24-2. My smb.conf and /etc/group have probably no use to you if I'm unable to reproduce the bug so I won't send them. I'll gladly send them if You think they could be of any value (no fancy stuff there though). Initially I had my smb.conf working with @groupname style, but after upgrade I found some users had trouble accessing certain shares. Turned out to be that "valid users" option that did not seem to accept @groupname argument. Erik
