Package: pure-ftpd-mysql Version: 1.0.21-8 (i386) Bug:
(* My english is somewhat worst.. sorry !) I tried to install pure-ftpd-mysql on a Debian Etch 4.0 Stable (with last update from Debian mirors). I have NO problem to install the package himself. When I want to conect a client I get this error on the FTP-client interface: >ftp my.sever.com Connected to my.server.com. Can't exec "/usr/sbin/pure-ftpd": No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/pure-ft pd-wrapper line 174. /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper: Cannot exec /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd: No such file or di rectory at /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper line 174. Connection closed by remote host. ---------------- If I verify on the Debian server box, effectively, the executable file /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd is not there... The wrapper could not find it if the file don't exist :o) ---------------- I tested the base pure-ftpd package (PAM and UNIX only), with this one the /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd file exist and the server run... but Debian package (via APT) don't allow to install pure-ftpd-mysql AND pure-ftpd at the same time (also true with pure-ftpd-ldap). I'm astonished to get this problem with a STABLE version of Debian and nobody report that before. NOTE: I tested the pure-ftpd-mysql package on 3 different PC with Debian Etch 4.0 Stable (Compaq Presario Celeron 400 Mhz, HP Compaq dx2000 2.4 Ghz and Compaq EVO D310v 1.8 Ghz) and I always get the same result. ---------------- NOT RECOMMANDED TEST THAT I MAKE ALSO (AND NOT RELATED TO pure-ftpd-mysql PACKAGE) : I tested to use the pure-ftpd package (not pure-ftpd-mysql) with adding in /etc/pure-ftpd/auth a symbolic link to also start the MySQL Authentication with the wrapper, In this situation the server run and add in parameter the MySQL string, but I get an error in the SYSLOG event: Jun 20 09:45:24 tempo pure-ftpd: ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) [ERROR] Unknown authentication method: my sql:/etc/pure-ftpd/db/mysql.conf ======================================= Please let me know if a real problem exist with this package or it seem to be a problem coming from "me".
