The SQL initialization script for the system database is placed
in the wrong directory. Today there are two pgpool packages -
pgpool and pgpool2. So system_db.sql of pgpool should not be
placed in a directory called pgpool. The actual path is:

/usr/share/pgpool/system_db.sql

The path should be:

/usr/share/pgpool2/system_db.sql

The 2 is just a version number, not part of the name of the software.

If this is correct then the software package should be upgraded but if there are two different packages pgpool2 and pgpool then there must be two different configs. So there are two options:

1. Two packages exist (pgpool and pgpool2) and so there should be two different configurations (like for apache 1 and 2).

2. Only one package exists and the version numbers are only changed (pgpool-1.3.3.0 and pgpool-2.1.2).

Consistency means one config/path per package. I would prefer solution one because pgpool-II is a new software not only an upgrade.

BTW postgresql packages solve this problem with dynamic links.

Best regards
