Package: kmail Version: 4:3.5.7-1 Severity: wishlist I've been using kmail as my email client of choice for quite a while. I was recently forced into upgrading from a dual Athlon 1700 system to a AMD 64X2 4800. Kmail was a big disappointment after upgrading, as was one web site I like to visit.
Even before upgrading, I was annoyed with kmail going to sleep when processing incoming mail. If I was using mbox for mail folders, I could understand the locking issues were forcing this. But I use maildir for all of my active folders, it is only archival folders not yet moved to SQL that are mbox. Asking around people who have used mdir more than I have, they don't know of any reason why kmail has to behave this way either. Specifically, if I am sending an email, there is no reason why kmail has to freeze up if it is processing an incoming email. I am not doing anything with inbox. Another one that happens, is if I happen to make the pane with kmail the visible window, and kmail is processing incoming email, that portion of the screen is frozen. Is this something which is going to get fixed in the new KDE coming "soon"? -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kmail depends on: ii kdebase-kio-plugins 4:3.5.7-1 core I/O slaves for KDE ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.7.dfsg.1-1 core libraries and binaries for al ii kdepim-kio-plugins 4:3.5.7-1 KDE pim I/O Slaves ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.19-3 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libaudio2 1.9-2 The Network Audio System (NAS).
