please excuse me for jumping in. I fail to see the benefit of changing the current behaviour in the way you propose. Furthermore I want to point out that you are mistaken in your assumption that empty subject lines would always be caught. I for one use $EDITOR on the terminal not my mail program to write the bug reports and thus I will not get an empty subject warning.
