I assume you're referring to this paragraph in the documentation:
"When reading values from SQLite, ASPW uses the Python string
class for any pure ASCII text, else it uses the Python unicode
class."
I think it's just documentation bug since it's clearly stated both
near the top and in the version history that all strings now are
returned as Unicode.
