I am the mantainer of 'printtool'. I think that 'printtool' has outlived its usefullness: its database of printers (that is actually contained in the package 'printfilters-ppd', for some strange reason) is outdated; and upstream is dead since 2001. I tried to ping in d-devel, at http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2007/05/msg00965.html and it seems wise not keeping 'printtool' around. So I ask for its removal from 'testing' and 'unstable'. a.
