I'm sorry, but this supposed fix that went into the distributed version is wrong from an upstream point of view. The reason the serch defaults to Local is to keep zstress out fo the servers, and most searches can be resolved with a local search, and followed by a global manually if not.
Setting the search to global by default harms the servers, and the network as a whole. Upstream is not please, and I don't understand how debian can apply a patch that changes the network functionality of the program, without even considering upstream's opinion on it. This is a network program, working on a big network, and changes to network functionality should only be made upstream IMHO. IT's like, debian suddently deciding to change the way FTP works, or the defaults for xchat networks. except in this case, this change is harming the NETWORK the application it's supposed to use.
