Package: dhcdbd Version: 2.0-4 Severity: normal
I had my network devices renamed using ifrename to eth-wlan and eth-wired. When trying to use NetworkManager the logs show all is fine up until this point: Feb 8 12:33:40 jarvis NetworkManager: <information>^IActivation (eth-wired) Stage 3 of 5 (IP Configure Start) started... Feb 8 12:33:41 jarvis NetworkManager: <information>^IActivation (eth-wired) Beginning DHCP transaction. Feb 8 12:33:41 jarvis NetworkManager: <WARNING>^I nm_dhcp_manager_begin_transaction (): nm_dhcp_manager_begin_transaction(): Couldn't allocate the dbus message Feb 8 12:33:41 jarvis NetworkManager: <information>^IActivation (eth-wired) failure scheduled... Investigation revealed that the problem was in the DBUS call to dhcdbd. Removing the dashes from the network device names fixed the problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.20.9-suspend2 (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages dhcdbd depends on: ii dbus 1.0.2-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii dhcp3-client 3.0.4-14 DHCP Client ii libc6 2.5-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries di libdbus-1-3 1.0.2-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii lsb-base 3.1-23.1 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip dhcdbd recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
