You mention your /boot is a partition, although install-grub is specifically mentioning /boot/grub. If you have a HFS partition where you installed yaboot, mount that as /boot/grub and try again.
Beware that this version of OF didn't work for me at all and I had to go back to 1.95-5. Still, I'd be glad to see how far you can get.
